Former camper and current LifeCamp Program Director Akbar Cook has been in the news lately. Perhaps you have heard about the principal in Newark who is combatting bullying and chronic absenteeism with soap – laundry soap. He is also the leader behind Lights On – a program for at risk young men and women. Mr. Cook and many of his team – are educators during the school year, program specialists and staff at LifeCamp in the summer and leaders making a difference in the lives of so many young people.
